As the workshop progressed, the one who has knowledge came in front and led the demonstrations, provided his thinking and awareness to everyone. At one time a person performed as a demonstrator and in another moment he was just a good listener. The environment was superb with the active participation of all the people in the room.
The Director of Science and Technology(DST), was one among many who really benefited with the workshop and he remained a very good listener for the entire session. At the end of this informatics workshop, each people came out with their take on how it can be helpful to their day to day lives.
The workshop covered partitioning the hard disk for installation, ext3 filesystem, SUSE Linux installation, Using Open Office, CD writing using K3b, GPRS setting, Multimedia like Mplayer, Detecting mobile phones, Remote login, Router and Server settings, Brief introduction on Samba setting etc.
The workshop was successful due to the team work and passion shown by the Linux Manipur particularly residing in Manipur. The workshop would never be possible without the initiation and excellent infrastructure provided by Oja Tejmani, HOD of Computer Science Dept., Manipur University, and his team of lectures from MU. We specially like to Oja Somorjeet, Guest Lect., MU for his untiring efforts, he gave in day and night with his energetic students.
Many thanks to Mr Beda (ITCTC), Mr. Sonamani (BSNL/AMT), Mr Hectar and many other volunteers for their outstanding services and invaluable time. We would also like to thank everyone who had come and contributed towards making the workshop truly useful, productive and memorable one.
Last but not the least, we thank ITCTC, Rims Road, for sponsoring the lunch; and AMT Computers, Babupara Road, for sponsoring Open SUSE Linux CDs for the participants. Looking at the spirit that prevailed throughout the event, the participants, sponsors & organizers promised to come back with more in the subsequent months.
